Rohit Sharma raises concerns about air pollution in Mumbai: Emphasizes the importance of a safe environment for our children’s future

India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed his apprehension regarding the escalating air pollution levels in Mumbai, emphasizing the need for future generations to live without fear. He stated that, ideally, such a situation should not exist.

As the Indian cricket team arrived in Mumbai, his hometown, for their World Cup match against Sri Lanka, he couldn’t help but notice the deteriorating air quality. He posted a photo on his social media platform during the flight from Lucknow, where India had defeated England on Sunday, with the caption: “Mumbai, yeh kya hogaya (Mumbai, what has happened).”

Before delving into cricket-related matters on Wednesday, Sharma addressed the issue of air pollution.

“In an ideal scenario, we wouldn’t want to face such a situation. I’m confident that concerned authorities are taking the necessary measures to prevent such situations. It’s far from ideal, and that’s common knowledge,” he remarked.

“Of course, when we think about our future generations, particularly our children, it’s crucial for them to live without apprehension. Whenever I speak outside the realm of cricket, I always emphasize this. We have a responsibility to safeguard our future generations,” he added.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading in Mumbai on Wednesday was ‘moderate’ at 167, showing a slight improvement compared to the previous day.
