Rising Stars: Pre-Tournament Boost in T20I Player Rankings

Stars from Pakistan, West Indies, and England have all ascended in the final Men’s T20I Player Rankings update before the Men’s T20 World Cup kicks off. Despite disruptive weather during the home series against Pakistan, English players have advanced in the rankings just before the T20 World Cup begins in the West Indies and USA. England captain Jos Buttler climbed to seventh in the T20I batter rankings following an impressive 84 in Birmingham, and his teammate Jonny Bairstory rose eight positions to 36th after scoring 21 in the same game. Pakistan‘s Fakhar Zaman led the scoring with a brisk 45 off 21 balls against England, moving up six places to rank 51st. In the West Indies, Brandon King, Johnson Charles, and Kyle Mayers have all surged in the T20I batter rankings after stellar performances in their recent series sweep over South Africa, moving up five, seventeen, and twelve places respectively. Men’s T20I Batter Rankings Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies was named Player of the Series for claiming eight wickets against the Proteas, vaulting from outside the top 100 to 27th in the T20I bowler rankings. Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings England‘s Reece Topley moved up to ninth in the T20I bowler rankings, while Pakistan‘s Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Imad Wasim improved their rankings based on their recent performances, rising to the 11th, 25th, and 38th positions respectively. India‘s Suryakumar Yadav is set to start the T20 World Cup as the top-ranked T20I batter, while England‘s Adil Rashid will enter as the number one T20I bowler.
