Pakistan fast bowler returns from retirement, eligible for T20 World Cup 2024.

Mohammad Amir took to social media to announce his comeback from retirement, making himself eligible for participation in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Having retired from all forms of international cricket in 2021, Amir has been active in various franchise T20 leagues worldwide. After representing the Quetta Gladiators in the recent Pakistan Super League, where he claimed 10 wickets in 9 matches with an economy rate of 8.41, the 31-year-old expressed his eagerness to don the green jersey once again, following positive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). In his social media post, Amir emphasized his desire to play for Pakistan, stating that serving his country has always been his top priority. Before his retirement, Amir had a successful stint in T20Is for Pakistan, claiming 59 wickets in 50 matches at an economy rate of 7.02. His last T20I appearance was in August 2020 against England. Amir‘s decision to return to international cricket coincides with Imad Wasim‘s recent reversal of retirement, both players aiming to make themselves available for the T20 World Cup.
